TryingToWinBackControl
Perhaps one might find this excessive to track each time I didn't or did spend money in a day, but I feel this is necessary for accountability (both positive and negative) until I get this debt/spending under control.
My husband and I met back in 2002. Both of us were financially solvent and had very little debt and combined had more than $250,000 saved.
In 2005 after our daughter was born we bought a house and took on a Housekeeper. During that year we sunk more than $100,000 into repairs and improvements.
In late 2005 I decided to quit my job and stay home with the kids, and for the sake of our marriage and my sanity not get rid of the housekeeper.
In Feb 2007 we sold the house at a $10,000 loss and moved to the beach to rent. By this time spending sprees had sucked through $75,000 worth of savings and racked up $30,000 worth of credit card debt and $40,000 worth of personal loans.
I don't know how we got so out of control considering neither of us have a cocaine or gambling problem to blame on it.
